Weeklong Hwy 30 detour west of Chatfield begins Oct. 2 for culvert replacement
CHATFIELD, Minn. – Highway 30 motorists traveling west of Chatfield will be detoured beginning Monday, Oct. 2 on Olmsted County Road 7 while a Minnesota Department of Transportation maintenance crew replaces a culvert, according to MnDOT.
The work east of Cummingsville requires that the road be closed to replace the culvert, which stretches across Hwy 30. The work will begin at 7 a.m., Monday, Oct. 2 and be completed by 5 p.m., Oct. 6, weather permitting. If the work is completed sooner, MnDOT crews will reopen the road at that time.
Eastbound Hwy 30 motorists will be directed north on Olmsted County 7 to Highway 52 and then south on Hwy 52 to Chatfield where Hwy 30 joins the road. Westbound motorists will go north on Hwy 52 at Chatfield and then south on Olmsted 7 until it connects with Hwy 30. The highway sees an average of 1,100 vehicles per day.
Separate work on Hwy 30 to repair and maintain culverts has already begun. Motorists should alert for work crews on the road between Stewartville and Rushford. That work will be along the road shoulders and should be completed in mid-November.
Motorists can learn more about this separate project at http://www.dot.state.mn.us/d6/newsrels/17/09/22hwy30.html.
