Hwy 63 closure planned for bridge demolition at Rochester airport interchange
ROCHESTER, Minn. —Motorists on Highway 63 near Rochester International Airport will be detoured up and down the interchange traffic ramps beginning at 5 p.m., Friday, Nov. 11 for the demolition of the Olmsted County 16 bridge, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Motorists should be prepared to slow down through the area as they travel on the traffic ramps. Access to Rochester International Airport will remain open during the demolition, as will traffic over the new Olmsted County 16 bridge. The $6,968,000 project is being led by Olmsted County.
Normal traffic will resume by 5 a.m., Monday, Nov. 14. If work finishes sooner than planned, the highway will be opened at that time.
Olmsted County is reconstructing the bridge and interchange at the airport. The project began in 2015 and is scheduled to be completed in two weeks. The contractor is Minnowa Construction of Harmony, Minnesota.
MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
