UPDATE: Hwy 61 reopens after fatal crash in Wabasha County

ROCHESTER, Minn. (10:20 a.m.) – Highway 61 north of Minneiska in Wabasha County has reopened after a fatal crash earlier this morning, Oct. 14, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The crash had closed Highway 61 about 1 mile north of Minneiska at milepost 45. The crash was reported at 5:50 a.m. Northbound traffic opened earlier, but southbound had been closed until now.

MnDOT urges motorists to follow these recommendations in work zones:
•     Stay alert
•     Watch for signs, equipment and workers
•     Minimize distractions, such as using cell phones, eating or drinking
•     Avoid tailgating
•     Follow posted speed limits and directional signs
•     Stay in one lane while driving through a work zone
