Highway 42 paving, bridge work in Elgin expected to be completed mid-October
ROCHESTER, Minn. — Work on the Highway 42 paving and bridge replacement project in Elgin is entering its final weeks, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Work on the Highway 42 bridge replacement on the north end of Elgin has been underway since July 11. The paving work to the south of the bridge began in August and includes curb, gutter and storm sewer replacement in Elgin. It’s all part of a $1.8 million project with Minnowa Construction of Harmony, Minn., as the prime contractor. The work is expected to be completed Oct. 15, weather permitting.
The detour for Highway 42 northbound is Olmsted County Road 2 east to Olmsted County Road 10 north, which becomes Wabasha County Road 4 and connects into Plainview. Traffic will be able to access Elgin from the east via Wabasha County Road 25 or from the west via Wabasha County Road 2. Follow the direction signs on the detour.
Motorists should always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
