Brief traffic stoppages planned Sept. 14 for I-90 Dresbach Bridge pier removal
ROCHESTER, Minn. – Interstate 90 motorists will encounter short-term traffic delays near the Dresbach Bridge construction site during the afternoon on Wednesday, Sept. 14 for removal of a bridge pier, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Traffic in both directions of I-90 will be stopped for 15 minutes or less during the removal process. Traffic will be waved through after the work is completed. Work is scheduled to take place from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
River traffic for all watercraft will be kept away from the work during this short period of time Wednesday afternoon.
Additional work will be conducted to remove the remaining piers. Similar traffic stoppages will be conducted during that activity and will be announced in advance by MnDOT.
The Dresbach Bridge project is a cooperative effort between the Minnesota and Wisconsin departments of transportation. The project includes constructing a new I-90 crossing over the Mississippi River and reconstructing the Highway 61/14 and the I-90 interchange.
The $187.5 million project began in late 2012 and will be completed this fall.
MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
