Daytime traffic to be rerouted on Second Street in Winona July 11-12

WINONA, Minn. –  Traffic in Winona will be rerouted from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Second Street between Huff Street and Washington Street on Monday, July 11 and Tuesday, July 12, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Traffic needs to be rerouted at times during Monday and Tuesday to ensure safety for motorists and the workers while the underside of the deck over Second Street is pressure washed and painted for the Winona Bridge Project.

The rerouting will send traffic from Second Street to Fourth Street. Work is expected to be done by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, weather permitting.  Ames Construction, the contractor, will monitor traffic to ensure that backups do not occur during the morning and afternoon commuting times.

MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.

Follow construction progress on the project website at www.mndot.gov/winonabridge, by signing up for periodic email updates, or by visiting the project Facebook page at www.facebook.com/WinonaBridge.
