Temporary nighttime traffic stoppages planned for Hwy 52 in Rochester
ROCHESTER, Minn. — Traffic on northbound Highway 52 in Rochester at Olmsted County Road 1 will be stopped for brief periods beginning at 10 p.m., Wednesday, July 27, so crews can place a temporary overhead sign structure, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The temporary closure will begin at 10 p.m. Northbound Highway 52 traffic will be stopped near the Olmsted County Road 1 exit. Closures will last as long as 15 minutes before traffic is allowed through and then another closure will take place for a similar length of time. Work is expected to be completed within two hours. The closure is only for northbound Highway 52 traffic.
Crews will be placing an overhead sign structure to aid northbound Highway 52 traffic as it splits prior to the Highway 52 bridge deck replacement project over Highway 63. Traffic is limited to single lanes in each direction through the construction zone.
The temporary sign structure is part of a $4.2 million project to replace the Highway 52 bridge decks over Highway 63 and connect Highway 52 north’s third lane to the bridge. The project, which includes painting the bridge after construction, is expected to be completed by Nov. 3. To learn more about this project, go to MnDOT’s project page: www.dot.state.mn.us/d6/projects/hwy52-63-interchange/.
MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
