Traffic restrictions planned for Northfield Hwy 19 bridge final restoration work
ROCHESTER, Minn. — Motorists will encounter construction crews on the Highway 19 historic stone arch bridge near Carleton College in Northfield as final work begins the week of July 18 for the bridge restoration, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The construction crews are scheduled to mobilize to the site the week of July 18 and begin the restoration work on July 25. A road shoulder closure will be required for approximately a month and crews are scheduled to close the bridge for three days beginning Aug. 26 to apply an epoxy chip seal to the bridge deck.
Lane closures are scheduled beginning Aug. 29 so that stonework can be installed on the railing.
The work is scheduled to be completed by Sept. 2.
The prime contractor on the $1.4 million project is Global Specialty of Eagan, Minnesota.
