Winona traffic to be rerouted on Second Street during daytime June 20-21

WINONA, Minn. –  Traffic will be rerouted in Winona on Monday, June 20 and Tuesday, June 21 during daytime hours of approximately 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Second Street between Huff Street and Washington Street, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Traffic needs to be rerouted at times during Monday and Tuesday to ensure safety for motorists and the workers while the contractor removes the concrete forms on the bridge over Second Street.

The rerouting will send traffic from Second Street to Fourth Street. It is anticipated that the work will be done by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, weather permitting.

Ames Construction, the contractor, will monitor traffic to ensure that backups do not occur during the morning and afternoon commuting times. Detour signs will be posted and the signal at the Second Street and Riverview/Huff intersection will be switched to a flashing red. Flashing red indicates motorists should stop and then proceed when the intersection is clear to safely proceed.

MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
