Hwy 250 bridge replacements near Lanesboro begin May 9

ROCHESTER, Minn. – Construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 9 on the replacement of two Highway 250 bridges near Lanesboro, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Minnowa Construction of Harmony, Minnesota, is the prime contractor on the $3.8 million project to replace two narrow through-truss bridges on Highway 250 near Lanesboro.

The project also involves improvements to the existing roadway alignment approaching each bridge. The bridge at the edge of Lanesboro crosses the South Branch of the Root River, while the other bridge north of town crosses the North Branch of the Root River.

Highway 250 will be closed on June 6 after school is dismissed for the summer and detoured for construction of the south bridge in Lanesboro, which will be closed through most of the project.

The north bridge is expected to remain open for a majority of the construction project, except during grading of connections back into the existing Highway 250 alignment.

A small number of weekday river closings will be necessary at stages during construction for safety. The project is expected to be complete in September.
