Public meeting scheduled for May 2 to discuss Winona’s historic bridge options

ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation will discuss the Winona Bridge project on May 2 with the public in Winona. This update will include the status of the new bridge construction and current budget projections and options involving the historic bridge rehabilitation and reconstruction.

The meeting will be held at Wanek Hall, Winona County Historical Center, 160 Johnson Street, Winona, MN 55987. The meeting will start at 4:30 p.m. and will run until 6:30 p.m. A formal presentation with questions and answers will start at 5 p.m.

The historic bridge rehabilitation portion of the project is estimated to cost $30 million more than originally planned. In-depth information on this is posted at http://www.dot.state.mn.us/winonabridge/work-package5-costs.html. The cost increase has prompted a review of all options available for this portion of the project.

MnDOT is soliciting and considering the views of the public in this decision-making process.

Follow construction progress on the project website at www.mndot.gov/winonabridge, by signing up for periodic email updates, or by visiting the project Facebook page at www.facebook.com/WinonaBridge.
