Public invited to open house for Year 2 of Red Wing Highway 61 (Main Street) Project

ROCHESTER, Minn. – The public is invited to attend a public open house Thursday, March 10 at the Red Wing Public Library to learn about plans for Year 2 of the Highway 61 (Main Street) Project, which is slated to begin soon, according to the city of Red Wing and the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The open house is from 5-7 p.m., March 10 in the Red Wing Public Library’s Foot Room, 225 East Ave. The meeting is an open house format with no formal presentation scheduled.

Residents and business owners can meet with representatives from the contractor, Meyer Contracting, as well as officials from the city of Red Wing to ask questions and learn more about the 2016 construction schedule, traffic restrictions, street closures and detours.

The project is starting its second year. The $9.7 million road reconstruction project is being led city of Red Wing and includes utility improvements, traffic signal and corridor aesthetic upgrades. Meyer Contracting of Maple Grove, Minnesota, is the prime contractor.
