Construction on I-35 Medford roundabouts will close highway ramps

ROCHESTER, Minn. – Motorists traveling to Medford, Minnesota, or the Medford Outlet Center on Interstate 35 north of Owatonna will encounter ramp closures and detours beginning Monday, June 9 as construction begins on the roundabouts, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Exit 48 will be closed during the duration of the six-week, $833,000 project, which will replace the two roundabouts. Traffic will be able to access the businesses to the west of I-35 and the city to the east of I-35 via detours at exit 45 at Clinton Falls. To reach businesses on the west side of I-35, motorists should take Steele County Road 9 west to Steele County Road 23 north. To reach the city of Medford and its businesses, motorists should take Steele County Road 9 east to Steele County Road 45 north.

The project is expected to be complete by July 18.

To learn more or get a map of the detour, go to the MnDOT project page at www.dot.state.mn.us/d6/projects/i35-medford-roundabout/index.html.

MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
