Travel Advisory--Hwy 65 in Albert Lea re-opens after flooding
ROCHESTER, Minn. — (8:45 a.m.) Hwy 65 between Garfield Avenue and Newton Avenue in Albert Lea has re-opened after flood waters receded, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The highway runs through Albert Lea between Fountain and Albert Lea lakes. The road had been closed and traffic was detoured since June 18.
Other roadways in Minnesota remain closed because of flooding. Consult MnDOT’s flood page for a listing of roadways affected by flooding at www.dot.state.mn.us/flood/
Motorists should plan accordingly. When a road is closed it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or sentenced to 90 days in jail.
