Lane restrictions on Hwy 14 in Rochester for road maintenance
ROCHESTER, Minn. — Motorists in Rochester on Hwy 14 will encounter lane restrictions through the weekend as crews rout and seal cracks, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The work will narrow Hwy 14 traffic from four lanes to two lanes, allowing motorists one lane in each direction. Work is taking place Thursday, June 26 and Friday, June 27 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Hwy 14 from approximately 15th Avenue Southeast-Marion Road to the west to the junction of Hwy 52. On Saturday, June 28 work will be from 7 a.m. to dusk from Hwy 14 west to Byron. The starting point on Saturday’s work is at Hwy 52 and Civic Center Drive Northwest. If weather doesn’t allow completion of the work, it will be done from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday.
With this project, MnDOT is working to preserve an efficient and effective transportation system. Routing the cracks is part of the preparatory work so the sealant can provide a longer duration of protection of the road surface. It is a preventive maintenance effort.
MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work and emergency zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
