Information meeting set June 26 on Hwy 14 expansion project near Owatonna

ROCHESTER, Minn. – The public is invited June 26 to learn more about the Hwy 14 construction expansion project east of Owatonna, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The $12 million construction project, which is part of the state Corridors of Commerce program, will be discussed from 5:30-7 p.m. at MnDOT’s office, 1010 21st Ave. N.W., Owatonna, MN 55060.

Representatives from the contractor, Mathiowetz Construction of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, as well as the Minnesota Department of Transportation will be available to answer questions and provide information about the project.

The project is expected to start July 7 and run through fall of 2015. It will expand a nearly three-mile stretch of Hwy 14 east of Owatonna from two lanes to four lanes. The area is from Hwy 218 east to 54th Avenue near the intersection with Steele County Road 180. It’s part of an overall project to eventually expand the Hwy to four lanes from Mankato to Rochester. With this project, MnDOT is working to enhance an efficient and effective transportation system in southeastern Minnesota.
