Hwy 16 detour for bridge replacements west of Lanesboro

ROCHESTER, Minn. – Motorists using Hwy 16 west of Lanesboro in Fillmore County will encounter a detour during construction to replace two bridges in a project that begins on Tuesday, June 3, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The signed detour is the same that was used last year for another bridge replacement project on Hwy 16.  Motorists traveling to Lanesboro from the west should take Fillmore County Road 17 in Preston north to Fillmore County Road 8 east to Hwy 250 south to Hwy 16 south in Lanesboro. Hwy 16 is closed to through traffic between Lanesboro and Hwy 52. The detour is expected to last through the end of August.

Details of the project are available on the MnDOT project page at www.dot.state.mn.us/d6/projects/hwy16-bridge-replacement/index.html. The detour is expected to last through Aug. 30.

The general contractor for this $945,660 construction project is Minnowa Construction of Harmony, Minnesota. The project is expected to be finished Aug. 29, 2014
