MnDOT at 20th annual Transportation Fair on Saturday in Rochester

ROCHESTER, Minn. – Kids and curious adults can check out a Minnesota Department of Transportation snowplow if they visit the 20th annual Transportation Fair on Saturday in Rochester.
MnDOT will be part of the free event sponsored by Parents Are Important In Rochester, the School Readiness program and Rochester Public Works.

The event is at Goose Egg Park, 199 8th St. N.W. in Rochester across from the Northrop Education Center. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Visitors can meet Tracy Taylor, a MnDOT snowplow operator in Rochester, who will talk about her work. They can also look at the truck and see how sophisticated the machinery is that Taylor and other MnDOT workers use to clear snow from the state’s roadways.

The event features hands-on tours of dump trucks, snowplows, law enforcement vehicles, community service vehicles, recreational vehicles and big trucks, as well as a chance to meet the people who drive the vehicles. Face painting and family resources are also available.

To learn more about the event, call 507-328-4020.

MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
