Hwy 43 in Fillmore County to temporarily close for emergency culvert repair

ROCHESTER, Minn. (1 p.m.) – Hwy 43 will temporarily close south of Bratsberg, Minn., for emergency culvert repair on Tuesday, May 13 and traffic will be detoured during the construction, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The traffic detour begins two miles south of Bratsberg. Bratsberg is about 15 miles south of Interstate 90 on Hwy 43. Southbound traffic will follow Fillmore County Road 37 west to Fillmore County Road 10 southwest to Fillmore County Road 23 south to Fillmore County Road 12 east. The detour rejoins Hwy 43 about one mile north of Tawney, Minn. Northbound traffic will follow the route in reverse.

The culvert will be replaced and the roadway will be repaired for traffic. Afterward, the repaired roadway surface will be gravel for a period of time before it is paved over.

Weather permitting, the road will be re-opened later on Thursday, May 15. MnDOT will provide updates if weather delays the work.

MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive while driving, drive with caution, slow down in work zones, and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
