Information meeting set April 28 on I-35 project in Owatonna
ROCHESTER, Minn. – The public is invited April 28 to learn more about the I-35 construction project in Owatonna, which is expected to begin next month.
The two-year, $19.1 million construction project will be discussed from 5:30-7 p.m. at MnDOT’s office, 1010 21st Ave. N.W., Owatonna, MN 55060.
Representatives from the contractor, Mathiowetz Construction of Sleepy Eye, Minn., as well as the Minnesota Department of Transportation will be available to answer questions and provide information about the project.
This year, southbound I-35 lanes will be closed and traffic will be crossed over to use single lane traffic in northbound lanes on I-35. Traffic may use detours when ramps are closed during this year’s work. Overall, the project involves the replacement of four bridges and the replacement of pavement in the northbound and southbound lanes.
A multiyear project allows traffic to continue to flow on I-35, a key interstate highway for commerce, tourism and regular regional north-south traffic that sees more than 34,000 vehicles daily.
