Dresbach Bridge ramp, rest area closure to begin April 15
ROCHESTER, Minn. – The westbound Interstate 90 off-ramp to southbound Highway 61 and the Dresbach rest area will close on April 15 as the Dresbach Bridge construction continues.
Motorists traveling I-90 west from La Crosse, Wis., to Minnesota will encounter a ramp closure exiting I-90 westbound to southbound Highway 61. Motorists should follow westbound I-90 and take the Dresbach exit (273 B&A) to eastbound I-90. The detour is approximately 6 miles and will add approximately 10 minutes of travel time.
This detour will be in effect until 2016.
The Traveler Information Center and rest area, along with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service boat launch will also be closed during this time. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources boat landing at the site will remain open.
These closures are necessary as crews continue bridge construction.
This $187.5 million project is a cooperative effort between the Minnesota and Wisconsin departments of Transportation and will continue through 2016. The project includes constructing a new I-90 crossing over the Mississippi River and reconstructing the Highway 61/14 and I-90 interchange. The new I-90 river crossing will meet current structural and geometric standards, and the new interchange will improve traffic safety, capacity and access on and between Highway 61/14 and I-90.
