Dresbach Bridge named one of the top ten bridges of 2013
ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Dresbach Bridge was named as one of the top 10 bridges of 2013 by Roads and Bridges magazine.
Each year the magazine’s editorial staff recognizes the top projects in North America based on project challenges, impact to the region and scope of work.
The Dresbach Bridge project was selected in part because of the eco-conscious construction methods being used.
This $187.5 million project is a cooperative effort between the Minnesota and Wisconsin departments of Transportation and will continue through 2016. The project includes constructing a new Interstate 90 crossing over the Mississippi River and reconstructing the Highway 61/14 and I-90 interchange.
The new I-90 river crossing will meet current structural and geometric standards, and the new interchange will improve traffic safety, capacity and access on and between Highway 61/14 and I-90.
The 2008 Legislature provided $2.5 billion over 10 years to replace or repair the state’s fracture critical and structurally deficient bridges. The Dresbach Bridge project is being funded as part of this Chapter 152 program.
