Lake Pepin rest area closed Sept. 30

ROCHESTER, Minn. –The Lake Pepin rest area, located on Highway 61 just north of Lake City, will close beginning Monday, Sept. 30, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The closure is necessary as crews install a new well. Motorists will not be able to use the parking lot during the closure, expected to last approximately two weeks.

Rest areas and travel information centers contribute to the safety of the traveling public by providing fatigued drivers the ability to stop and rest. They also reduce the need for stops along highway shoulders and provide an escape from driving under hazardous weather and road conditions.
