Highway 44 between Mabel and Highway 52 opens to traffic
ROCHESTER, Minn. – Highway 44 in Fillmore County from Mabel to Highway 52 is now open to traffic, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Highway 44 had been closed while crews conducted culvert repairs.
Motorists should expect slight delays as flaggers and a pilot car will control traffic once paving begins.
When the project is complete, motorists will experience a smoother ride surface and a safer highway with new guardrail.
The resurfacing project is tied to a reconstruction project on Highway 44 in Spring Grove. The detour through town remains in place.
Mathy Construction, is the prime contractor for the project, scheduled to continue through October. When the project is finished, motorists will experience a smoother ride surface and a safer highway.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
