Orange barrels on a highway

Highway 26 construction in Houston County begins Aug. 12

ROCHESTER, Minn. — Motorists can expect single-lane traffic on Highway 26 between Highway 16 and the Iowa border beginning Monday, Aug. 12, as crews begin resurfacing the road and replacing culverts.

Flaggers and a pilot car will control traffic throughout the project, which is scheduled to continue through mid-October, weather permitting.

When the project is complete, motorists will experience a smoother ride surface and a safer highway with new guardrail.

Mathy Construction, is the prime contractor for the $5.8 million project.

MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
