Hwy 26 construction in Houston County suspended for the season

ROCHESTER, Minn. – Work on the Hwy 26 resurfacing project between Hwy 16 and the Iowa border has been suspended for the winter season, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Hwy 26 had been reduced to a single-lane controlled with flaggers and a pilot car while crews resurfaced the Hwy.

Crews will finish resurfacing in Brownsville and at the bridge approaches, place shoulder aggregate to eliminate the drop-offs and do temporary striping for the winter.

Work on Hwy 26 will resume next spring.

Mathy Construction, is the prime contractor for the $5.8 million project.

MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
