Orange barrels on a highway

Highway 26 parking restrictions in Houston County

ROCHESTER, Minn. — Parking is currently not allowed on the shoulders of Highway 26 between Highway 16 and the Iowa border, as crews resurface the road and replace culverts.

Vehicles parked on the shoulder will be towed at the owner’s expense.

The parking restrictions are necessary so crews can safely complete the resurfacing project.

When the project is complete, motorists will experience a smoother ride surface and a safer highway with new guardrail.

Mathy Construction, is the prime contractor for the $5.8 million project.

MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
