Orange barrels on a highway

Highway 251 construction in Freeborn County begins Sept. 26

ROCHESTER, Minn. – Motorists can expect single-lane traffic on Highway 251 between Interstate 35 and Freeborn County Road 34 beginning Thursday, Sept. 26, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The closures are necessary as crews resurface the road.

Flaggers will control traffic throughout the project, which is scheduled to continue through mid- October, weather permitting.

When the project is complete, motorists will experience a smoother ride surface and a safer highway.

Ulland Brothers is the prime contractor for the $1 million project.

MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
