Highway 60 bridge replacement begins July 25
ROCHESTER, Minn. – Motorists will experience single-lane traffic on Highway 21 between Highway 60 and the Faribault Municipal Airport beginning Monday, July 22 as crews begin constructing new turn lanes and resurfacing the road.
In addition to the Highway 21 resurfacing, crews will also be replacing the bridge over Crocker’s Creek at the Highway 60 and Highway 21 intersection. Highway 60 will close beginning Thursday, July 25.
Motorists will detour on Highway 21, Rice County Road 11, Western Avenue, 4th Street Southwest, Division Street and Rice County Road 48.
The detour is expected to remain in place through early September.
Once the detour is lifted, flaggers will control traffic throughout the remainder of project, which is scheduled to continue through mid-September.
Crane Creek Asphalt, a division of Mathy Construction, is the prime contractor for the $3.1 million project.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
