Highway 16 between Lanesboro and Rushford opens ahead of schedule to traffic
ROCHESTER, Minn. – Highway 16 in Fillmore County from Lanesboro to Rushford is now open to traffic, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Highway 16, originally expected to remain closed through August, had been closed while crews conducted the pavement reclamation and first part of resurfacing.
Motorists should expect slight delays as flaggers and a pilot car will now control traffic.
When the project is complete, motorists will experience a smoother ride surface and a safer highway with new guardrail.
Dunn Blacktop, a division of Mathy Construction, is the prime contractor for the project, scheduled to be completed in late September. When the project is finished, motorists will experience a smoother ride surface and a safer highway.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
