Weather will dictate Highway 63 intersection completion in Rochester
ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Highway 63 and Olmsted County Road 14/75th Street intersection remains closed as work continues on the new roundabout, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Originally scheduled to be open Friday, Oct. 12, weather delays have pushed the completion date back.
“If it doesn’t rain on Saturday we should have it open that night,” said Paul Schauer, project engineer. “If the predictions are correct, and it does rain on Saturday, the project will be complete Monday night.”
MnDOT asks that motorists do not attempt to drive around the road closed barricades for their safety, and the safety of the crews working to complete the project.
When the project is finished, the intersection will be safer as roundabouts are proven to reduce severe crashes.

Rochester Sand and Gravel, a division of Mathy Construction, was the prime contractor for the $3.4 million project.
