Roadside mowing along Highway 56 in Mower County scheduled for Oct. 16
ROCHESTER, Minn. — Motorists will see crews mowing along Highway 56 between
Interstate 90 and Highway 63 beginning, Tuesday, Oct. 16, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Traffic should not be affected, and Highway 56 will remain open.
The mowing will improve driver safety and help protect roadside prairie and wildflower areas by controlling brush along the highway, also known as the Shooting Star Scenic Byway.
This type of brush control mowing is usually done in August, but will be done in October in this area to avoid harming native wildflowers during their active growing season.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
