Olmsted County Road 31 closure begins July 31

ROCHESTER, Minn. – Motorists on Olmsted County Road 31 in Pine Island will use a detour between Highway 52 and 120th Street NE beginning Tuesday, July 31, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The closure is necessary as crews extend the frontage road along Highway 52.

Motorists should follow the posted detour routes:

To access northbound Highway 52:
Go east on 120th Street NE, south on Highway 52, exit at Olmsted County Road 12 east and then north on Highway 52.

To access 120th Street NE:
Go north on Highway 52, exit at Goodhue County Road 11, south on Highway 52 and then west on 120th Street NE.

The road closure is part of the Elk Run Interchange project, which includes one of the first diverging diamond interchanges in Minnesota.

Construction on the Elk Run Interchange project began in spring 2011. Shafer Contracting Co. Inc. is the prime contractor for this project.

For more information on the Elk Run Interchange project, call the project hotline at 1-866-729-3995 or visit www.dot.state.mn.us/elkrun/.
