Highway 19 resurfacing in Goodhue County begins June 6
ROCHESTER, Minn. – Highway 19 will close between Cannon Falls and Highway 61 beginning Wednesday, June 6, as crews begin a pavement reclamation and resurfacing project, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Motorists will detour to Highway 20 and Highway 61.
The detour will remain in place through August, weather permitting.
Pavement reclamation is the process of milling off part of the existing road surface, grinding the remaining pavement and a small layer of the underlying aggregate, injecting oil into the mixture to rebind the material and compacting it back into place. Crews will add a layer of asphalt on top of the stabilized, reclaimed surface.
Rochester Sand and Gravel, a division of Mathy Construction, is the prime contractor for the project.
When the project is finished, motorists will experience a smoother ride surface and a safer highway.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
