Surface preservation project on four southeastern Minnesota highways begins Aug. 24
ROCHESTER, Minn. — Motorists can expect brief lane closures as crews conduct surface preservation and preventative maintenance on various highways in Dodge, Houston, Mower, Rice, Steele and Winona counties beginning Friday, Aug. 24.
Flaggers and a pilot car will control traffic during the lane closures.
Astech Corp. is the prime contractor for the $1,007,293 project, which includes repair work on four highways:
- Highway 16 in Houston County
- Highway 21 in Rice County
- Highway 74 in Winona County
- Highway 218 in Dodge, Mower and Steele counties
This pavement preservation project is scheduled to be completed by early September, weather permitting.
This project will preserve the life of the pavement on these highways.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
