Highway 14 traffic switch between Byron and Rochester
ROCHESTER, Minn.—Motorists can expect lane closures on eastbound Highway 14 in Olmsted County between Byron and Rochester beginning Monday, Aug. 13, as crews resurface the road.
Prior to this switch, traffic was reduced to a single lane on westbound Highway 14 while crews resurfaced the westbound lanes.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation anticipates stop-and-go traffic and delays on eastbound Highway 14 due to heavy traffic volumes, especially on weekday mornings and evenings. Motorists should find alternate routes and avoid the area during peak travel times, if possible.
When the project is complete, motorists will experience a smoother ride surface and a safer highway, including extended turn lanes.
Rochester Sand and Gravel, a division of Mathy Construction, is the prime contractor for the $8.2 million project, expected to be completed in early September.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
