Steele County Road 7 closure begins July 11
ROCHESTER, Minn. – Steele County Road 7/Lemond Road will close beginning Wednesday, July 11, as crews construct the new Steele County Road 7 alignment and pave Highway 14.
Detour:
North on Steele County Road 17, east on Steele County Road 18, north on the new Steel County Road 7, east on Bridge Street and then back to the existing Steele County Road 7.
The detour will be in place until late July, weather permitting.
The closure is part of the three-year reconstruction of Highway 14 from Waseca to Owatonna, which also includes constructing a new interchange at Interstate 35 and Highway 14.
The new Steele County Road 7 road and intersection with Highway 14 will be safer and more efficient for motorists.
Mathiowetz Construction Co., Sleepy Eye, Minn., is the prime contractor for the $51.8 million project. The entire project is expected to be complete in early September.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
