Interstate 35/Highway 14 ramp closure in Steele County begins Oct. 4
ROCHESTER, Minn. – Motorists will encounter a detour at the southbound Interstate 35 to eastbound Highway 14 ramp beginning Tuesday, Oct. 4, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Detour:
Continue south on I-35, take the Steele County Road 4/Hope exit to northbound I-35, back to eastbound Highway 14.
The detour will be in place through Saturday, Oct. 8 and is necessary while crews pave southbound I-35.
This work is part of a three-year reconstruction of Highway 14 from Waseca to Owatonna, which includes a new interchange at I-35 and Highway 14.
When the project is complete, motorists will experience a smoother ride surface and a safer highway.
Mathiowetz Construction Co., Sleepy Eye, Minn., is the prime contractor. The entire project is expected to be completed by June 2012.
Mn/DOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
