Hwy 76 construction in Houston County begins May 9
ROCHESTER, Minn. – Motorists can expect single-lane traffic on Hwy 76 in Houston County between Hwy 44 and Hwy 16 starting May 9, as crews begin resurfacing the road, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Flaggers will control traffic throughout the project, which is scheduled to continue through September, weather permitting.
Traffic on Hwy 76 also will be detoured beginning June 20, while crews replace culverts. The detour will be in effect through mid-July, weather permitting. The detour is Houston County Road 10.
When the project is complete, motorists will experience a smoother ride surface and a safer highway with new guardrail.
Mathy Construction is the prime contractor for the $5.4 million, which also includes the resurfacing of Hwy 44 from Spring Grove to Caledonia.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
