Highway 61 bridge replacement in Lake City begins April 18
ROCHESTER, Minn. – Crews will begin replacing the Highway 61 bridge over Gilbert Creek in Lake City beginning Monday, April 18, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The new bridge will be built in phases to allow two-way traffic to be maintained throughout the project.
The new bridge will be wider and include a pedestrian bridge. The project is expected to be complete at the end of September, weather permitting.
If flooding should occur in Lake City, the construction start date will be moved back.
Minnowa Construction, Inc. is the prime contractor for the $3.5 million project.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
