Highway 52 lane closures in Olmsted County begin Sept. 12

ROCHESTER, Minn. – Motorists will experience lane closures on northbound and southbound Highway 52 near Pine Island beginning Monday, Sept. 12, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The closures are necessary while crews conduct rock blasting for constructing the new exit ramp from Highway 52 to Olmsted County Road 5/12.

The lane closures will be in effect through Wednesday, Sept. 15, weather permitting.

The rock blasting is part of the Elk Run Interchange project, which includes one of the first diverging diamond interchanges in Minnesota.

Construction on the Elk Run Interchange project began in spring 2011 and is anticipated to continue through November 2012. Shafer Contracting Co. Inc. is the primary contractor for this project.
