37th Street (CSAH 22) Construction to begin May 2, 2011
ROCHESTER, Minn. — Construction work is scheduled to begin May 2, 2011 for the segment of 37th Street (CSAH 22) between TH 52 and TH 63. The project will include bituminous milling, some curb and gutter replacement, concrete overlay, and bituminous shouldering. Shafer Contracting Company, Inc is the contractor for the $2.4 million project.
The project will be constructed in two stages. During construction of the eastbound roadway, single-lane two-way traffic will be maintained on the westbound roadway. When the westbound roadway is under construction, single-lane two-way traffic will be maintained on the eastbound roadway. During each of these stages, there will be traffic restrictions and/or closures at some of the local streets that enter 37th Street. No established detour routes will be signed and traffic will need to utilize the local street system to access businesses and neighborhoods. All movements at the signalized intersections of 21st Ave, 18th Ave, West River Road, and East River Road will be maintained, however, the signals will not function and traffic will be controlled with the use of 4-way STOP signs. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes during peak traffic hours.
Construction will occur throughout the summer and is expected to be completed by September.
Motorists are reminded to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones, and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
Questions may be directed to the Olmsted County Public Works Department at 507-328-7070.
