MnDOT installs new traffic signal on Highway 43 in Winona
ROCHESTER, Minn. – Motorists and pedestrians will experience temporary lane closures and sidewalk delays near the Highway 43/Sarnia Street and Franklin Street intersection in Winona as crews install a new traffic signal and improve the pedestrian ramps.
Work began Monday, May 16, and will continue through July, weather permitting. Flaggers will control traffic during construction.
The new traffic signal will remain green for Highway 43/Sarnia Street traffic until a vehicle approaches the intersection from Franklin Street or when pedestrians push the button to use the crosswalk. This change will improve safety and traffic flow at the intersection.
Mankato Electric Inc. is the contractor for the $135,000 project.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
