Next phase of Highway 248 resurfacing in Winona County begins Aug. 15
ROCHESTER, Minn. – The next phase of the Highway 248 resurfacing project in Winona County begins Monday, Aug. 15. Homeowners along Highway 248 may drive on the road with caution, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Crews will inject oil into the ground-up mixture of road surface to stabilize the road.
Highway 248 remains closed from Highway 61 to Winona County Road 26.
MnDOT reminds motorists that “local traffic” refers to residents who own property along Highway 248. All other motorists should continue to follow the detour—Winona County Road 33, Highway 14 and Highway 61—or use alternate routes.
Highway 248 from Rollingstone to Highway 61 will open in late August; Highway 248 from Winona County Road 26 to Rollingstone will open in mid-September. Completion dates are weather permitting.
Dunn Blacktop, a division of Mathy Construction, is the prime contractor for the project. When the project is finished, motorists will experience a smoother ride surface and a safer highway.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
