Work resumes on Highway 248 in Winona County July 28
ROCHESTER, Minn. – Work will resume on the Highway 248 pavement resurfacing project from Altura to Highway 61 Thursday, July 28.
The project was temporarily suspended during a 20-day state government shutdown. It is now expected to be complete in early October.
Highway 248 from Rollingstone to Highway 61 will close Monday, Aug. 8, as crews begin resurfacing that section of the highway.
Highway 248 has been closed from Winona County Road 26 to Rollingstone since June 13.
Motorists will continue to be detoured to Winona County Road 33, Highway 14 and
Highway 61.
Highway 248 from Rollingstone to Highway 61 will open in late August, and Highway 248 from Winona County Road 26 to Rollingstone will open in mid-September. Completion dates are weather permitting.
Dunn Blacktop, a division of Mathy Construction, is the prime contractor for the project. When the project is finished, motorists will experience a smoother ride surface and a safer highway.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
