Additional lane closure on Third Avenue Southeast in Rochester begins June 13

ROCHESTER, Minn. — Motorists will experience single-lane traffic on southbound Third Avenue Southeast from 11th Street Southeast to just south of 12th Street Southeast beginning Monday, June 13.

The lane closure is necessary while crews conduct curb work at the corner of Third Avenue Southeast and Highway 14. All lanes will be open by the end of June.

Motorists are encouraged to use Highway 63 during the Third Avenue Southeast lane closure to help alleviate congestion out of the downtown area.

The curb work is part of the Highway 14 reconstruction project, which will include new traffic signals at Third Avenue, Eighth Avenue, 11th Avenue and Marion Road. The project also will include adding bike lanes and landscaping, installing fiber-optic cable, resurfacing the road and closing multiple access points to improve the overall safety of Highway 14.

Rochester Sand and Gravel, a division of Mathy Construction, is the prime contractor for this project, scheduled to be completed in early August, weather permitting.
