REVISED: Expect nighttime delays at the Highway 14, Highway 63 intersection in Rochester May 19
ROCHESTER, Minn. — Motorists can expect nighttime delays from 6 p.m. to10 p.m., Thursday, May 19, when the traffic signals at the intersection of Highway 14 and Highway 63/Broadway Avenue are turned off and replaced with four-way stop signs.
The signal shut off is necessary while crews conduct signal work.
The signal work is part of the Highway 14 reconstruction project, which will include new traffic signals at Third Avenue, Eighth Avenue, 11th Avenue and Marion Road. The project also will include adding bike lanes and landscaping, installing fiber-optic cable, resurfacing the road and closing multiple access points to improve the overall safety of Highway 14.
Rochester Sand and Gravel, a division of Mathy Construction, is the prime contractor for this $5.9 million project, scheduled to be completed in early August, weather permitting.
For more information about the Highway 14 reconstruction project, visit www.dot.state.mn.us/d6/projects/hwy14inrochester/index.html.
Motorists should be advised that Olmsted County’s 37th Street Northwest/County Road 22 resurfacing project from Highway 63 to Highway 52 began May 2. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes during peak traffic hours.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
