TRAVEL ADVISORY
UPDATE: Highway 65 from Garfield Avenue to Newton Avenue in Albert Lea closed due to flooding
ROCHESTER, Minn.— (1:00 p.m.) The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the city of Albert Lea closed Highway 65 from Garfield Avenue to Newton Avenue in Albert Lea due to flooding.
Traffic will be detoured to Newton Avenue, Front Street, Garfield Avenue then back to Highway 65. Detour signs are in place.
Both eastbound and westbound Highway 65 will remain closed until further notice.
Motorists should plan accordingly. When a road is closed it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other expenses and penalties will apply.
