Highway 74 construction in Fillmore, Olmsted, Winona counties begins Sept. 7
ROCHESTER, Minn. — Motorists can expect single-lane traffic on Highway 74 between Chatfield and St. Charles when crews begin resurfacing the road on Tuesday, Sept. 7, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Flaggers and a pilot car will control traffic throughout the project, which is scheduled to continue through October, weather permitting.
The resurfacing project also includes pedestrian ramp accessibility improvements in Chatfield and St. Charles.
When the project is complete, motorists will experience a smoother ride surface and a safer highway.
Rochester Sand and Gravel, a division of Mathy Construction is the prime contractor for the $3.5 million project.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
