UPDATE: Culvert repairs require daytime closures on Highway 76 near Caledonia through Sept. 2

ROCHESTER, Minn. – Crews began replacing seven culverts on Aug. 23 on Highway 76 north of Caledonia between Houston County Road 20 and Highway 44 and work will continue through Sept. 2, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Daytime closures (6:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.) are scheduled for Aug. 23-27 and Aug. 30-Sept. 2.

Local residents who must access a location within the closed area of Highway 76 may do so. All other motorists should be prepared to follow the detour route.

East on Houston County Road 20, then south on Highway 44, which turns back into Highway 76.

The work is expected to be completed by Thursday, Sept. 2. In the event of inclement weather the project completion may be delayed.

The culverts are being replaced to prepare for a resurfacing project on Highway 76 during the 2011 construction season.

MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
